The first was the Storycorps website. That same weekend, I visited my grandma's cousin, now 78 years old, and she told me all about what it was like growing up in Artesia California in the 1930's 40's etc. She was born in California two Mexican parents and she told me all about the experience of not being allowed to speak Spanish in school, having to wear skirts, and the racism she endured, even though she was born here.
