Artist Statement
"Problems of the human heart in conflict with itself…" – Faulkner

I am a teacher and student constant. I have taught elementary and college students (digital tools and technology). Through my career I have found the best way to learn, is to teach. I am continually taking classes and as I sit there, I begin taking notes on how I would teach that class. At times I feel like I’m more excited about the content than the instructor. But I realize words that are new to me are a regurgitation of teaching the same class over and over again. I’m letting this path that I am on guide me; sometimes I am guiding it. At times I don’t understand, sometimes things are so very clear.

For me painting is an act of self-assertion and personal revelation. They are about my experiences and how I perceive the world. I paint a variety of subjects, wanting to explore and understand why they resonate with me. Allegorical at times, my paintings illuminate my longings and fears as well as my need to understand and communicate my internal struggles.
