The summer residency I had scheduled at the Vermont Studio Center was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. After ending a stressful semester of teaching online and the over-saturation of pandemic news I decided to create my own residency of making a 6" x 6" painting a day of "whatever I want". When asked, I sold each painting for $100 - $150 and donated a portion to a charity or organization. Then on May 25th, George Floyd was murdered. I began donating 100% to support groups like the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, Baltimore Black-led Solidarity Fund, ACLU...or if the buyer had a favorite choice in their community.
